I am a software engineer in the Bay Area. I was twice educated in sunny San Diego at UCSD in Computer Science (B.S. 2006, M.S 2012). My emphasis during grad school was AI/Machine learning. However, these days my career is focused on making consumer and enterprise products delightful experiences.
At BrightHome I co-founded a real estate technology startup with a real estate agent and a designer. I built various test products, including a consumer search interface and an automatic comparative market analysis (CMA) generation. We ultimately landed on a workflow product for Listing Agents to streamline paperwork required to get a property to market.
At DocuSign I led the development of a product called Transaction Rooms for Financial Services. I worked extensively with the design team to protype and user test early versions to get high level buy-in. As the project matured and engineers were added, I worked with product managment to synthesize requirements into a backlog of user stories, define APIs that needed to be built, and run sprints. Later during the alpha/beta cycle, I worked with Sales and Marketing and even spoke at the company user conference. Unfortunately the product never made it to GA, but the experience was still quite educational and rewarding.
Prior, I worked on roadmap features for the new DocuSign experience for ~9 months. During that time I helped champion an internal style guide and common CSS framework. I also led the migration of the project to Angular. Both these efforts enabled the project to scale to 4 different teams relying a common visual language and more consistency.
At Avi Networks I joined as employee #5 starting on backend development after grad school. During my time there I stepped into UI development where I was responsible for the original Django app and REST API that provided the dashboard/controller.
At Websense I was heavily involved in scaling up the backend infrastructure for the Threat Seeker Network. There my work was largely focused on distributed systems, text processing, and big data. The exposure I gained to machine learning from the text classifiers and security scanners we maintained motivated me to go to grad school.
